23. Frank Lloyd Wright
A famous American architect, writer, educator, and interior designer, Frank Lloyd Wright (1867-1959) designed more than a thousand structures and built 532 over his long career, including private homes, offices, skyscrapers, churches, and museums. He believed in designing buildings that were in perfect harmony with the environment and humanity. He called this philosophy “organic architecture.” Perhaps the best exemplification of this philosophy is the magnificent Fallingwater (originally known as the Kaufmann Residence) built over a waterfall in Fayette County, Pennsylvania. It has since been called one of the best works of American architecture ever built.
