22. Renzo Piano
A native of Genoa who was born in 1937, Renzo Piano is an Italian engineer and designer who won the 1998 Pritzker Architecture Prize (often called the Nobel Prize for architecture). He was also chosen by TIME magazine as among the 100 most influential people in the whole world in 2006 due to his futuristic and transformative works. He is best famed for his dramatic commissions (for example the NEMO science museum in Amsterdam and Morgan Library in New York). He also commissioned other famous skyscrapers like the new New York Times Building and The Shard (in London), which is the tallest building in the European Union.
